Hey Tomatoes...

You wanna see how I handle this sort of mindset...the one that you are displaying at this moment? If you can take it....go here:

http://splashinthepacific.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/why-you-just-cant-trust-any-of-the-bs-on-the-health-care-initiative/

I hit it back with a big ole factslap...Tommy is speaking the truth...and in time...that will become evident...this push of false infomation, obviously being helped along by the likes of Newt and Sarah...will soon come to an end, then the REAL debate we should have been having all along, can continue in the direction of true democracy.

Oh and HAI BRI!!!!! waves...miss hearing your voice!!! Hope all is well.

Geez Brian, follow the damn money.

Let's see, the health care industry, insurance industry, and pharmaceutical industry, don't want this health care bill. Why? Gee, that's a tough one, huh? So what do they do? Let's see, let's organize disruptions at those town hall meetings for American citizens who just want some information to make a more sound and educated decision when it comes to health care. And let's contribute to the coffers of the Reps, who have always been in their back pocket anyway. And what do the Reps do? Why take the money, they are all worried about their jobs--especially since their 'queen' Palin has started a trend of 'quitting' that seems to be taking off like a wild fire during a drought.

So tell me--what is so different in the Republican playbook that would make you think they are about anything other than the status quo? What have they done differently over the past three decades (could be longer, but ya know the memory is the first to go)?

Simpson, don't troll me on my own blog. Go read the rules. Gingrich is clearly drawing a line between the House bill and the status quo, whether he's fighting for it or not. The point about the bill vs standard benefits language stands. You are the dishonest one. The GOP wants less regulation, ie more corporate control.

Proving yet again that you can't have an honest debate:

Funny that, to the extent Newt thinks we’re being asked to “trust government” (if you’re too lazy to read 1,000 double-spaced, triple-indented pages), he’s willing to put the same trust in corporations who have demonstrated they don’t deserve it. Or does Newt envision that corporations don’t want to cut costs?

Stop with the false characterization that Republicans are fighting for the status quo. This kind of stuff is why you can never be considered a journalist and will always be a blogger.

I think both sides have taken essentially the same tactics. Labeling each other with invectives, giving their supporters a 'playbook', and attempting to use the media to their advantage. All of this is okay. It is okay because in America we have the right to freedom of speech, assembly and freedom of the press. These are rights that thousands have given their lives to protect.

The debate on health care which consumes nearly a fifth of the national economy and involves everyone is something that we should openly debate and understand the intended and unintended consequences of before we change an entire system.

It is important to provide better access, bend the cost curve so that health care is affordable (and not just through shifting costs by taxing), and improving the quality of the care delivered.

We are a country that leads the world in health care innovation. We have to zealously protect that aspect. No other country in the world is positioned to take our place if we take our eye off this important work.
