Missy, I have no problem with checks and balances, at all…

however, is the Gang of 15 doing this, for that reason, or purely political reasons, because they fear backlash from the choices that are being made at this time?

I feel, if it were truely for checks and balances, then they would have simply formed a subcommittee, solely to look over alternative solutions, by doing this, they have created yet another ripple…which I feel, draws unnecessary attention, for all the wrong reasons…

If they would get to working on these issues, instead of grandstanding all the damn time, maybe we would actually get some proposals, that we can all feel a little better about..

The Gang of 15 is not made of only conservative & centrist Dems. I received an email from Senator Klobuchar in response to asking her to sign the Pickens Pledge, and she writes: “Because of our extreme temperatures and the great distances we drive, Minnesotans suffer disproportionately from high energy prices. Minnesotans understand better than many other Americans the need for a bold, comprehensive energy strategy that will provide relief to consumers in the short term while building a broad-based foundation for our long-term energy security and independence. That is why I joined the Senate’s “Gang of 15,” a group of nine Democratic and six Republican Senators who are working on a bipartisan solution to our energy crisis. Our goal is to work toward a compromise that would help spur the creation of non-petroleum vehicular technology, support weatherization assistance programs, safe nuclear energy development, and authorize limited drilling leases to help us bridge the gap from old to new energy resources. Please know that I am continuing to fight for these bold energy solutions as well as an expansion of renewable technologies in the Fiscal Year 2010 budget.”

The Gang of 15 is for check and balance folks!
